Panama City Beach may be best known as the best beach vacation spot in the country, but when Halloween rolls around, the city turns up the spooky factor and really does it up right. Late fall is a great time to hit the beaches in Florida. The summer vacation season has ended and winter holidays have yet to start. If you’re looking for a Halloween getaway, Panama City Beach promises off-season prices, fewer crowds and all the awesome attractions that make PCB one of the most popular Florida destinations – plus a host of events and annual traditions that make Halloween in Panama City Beach something really spooktacular. Here are just a few of the highlights of a Panama City Beach Halloween.
Panama City Beach Halloween – For the Kids
What’s Halloween without kids and trick-or-treating? Families who head for PCB for Halloween will find a wide range of haunted activities designed to appeal to kids of all ages.
- Haunted Hay Ride
Start off with a hay ride through Bay County Parks, dressed up for the holiday with 20 spooky scenes and sites. The hay ride takes you along the parking trail before detouring into the woods for a hair-raising finish.
- Boo at the Beach
One of the most popular Halloween attractions of all, Boo at the Beach takes place at Pier Park and is crammed with activities for the younger set. Kids can get their faces painted, listen to spooky stories, show off their costumes and carve pumpkins to take home with them.
- Scarecrow Festival
Love scarecrows? Then you’ll love the Scarecrow Festival that takes place throughout the last two weeks of October in the historic St. Andrews section of Panama City Beach. The activities include games, storytelling, a scarecrow contest and, of course, trick-or-treating!
Panama City Beach Halloween for the Grownups
Of course, kids aren’t the only ones who love Halloween. There are lots of haunted happenings in PCB aimed at adults, too. Here are some of the Halloween Highlights from around Panama City Beach.
- Maze of Terror & Haunted Hallway
The Maze of Terror is a definitely-not-for-kids haunted house featuring 6,000 square feet of terror. It’s an annual tradition at 701 Pier Park Dr. Suite 107. And for those who remember high school as a time of terror, the Old Vernon High School will be hosting a Haunted Hallway with a parental advisory attached.
- Halloween Night Life
All of the likely suspects will be hosting Halloween parties and costume contests, many of them annual traditions. Look for Schoonerween, at Schooners, and Zombie Walks originating at some of the hottest bars on the beach.
- Halloween Dance
Hit the Panama City Beach Senior Center for the annual Halloween dance, a well-loved tradition. It features with dancing, light refreshments, costume contest, fortune telling and treasure hunts for seniors – who still know how to get spooky on All Hallows Eve.
Those are just the highlights of the Halloween Happenings in Panama City Beach. Don’t forget to commemorate the event with photos taken by a Panama City Beach photographer so you can show everyone what fun you had.
